The Quanteo Group (the parent holding company of which Eco-Counter is part) is acquiring 100% of the shares of Rear Window BV – the company behind Telraam – from the original founders Transport & Mobility Leuven, Mobiel 21 and 3 active partners (Kris Vanherle, Dave Driesmans and Wouter Florizoone).
A logical match
The two companies complement each other perfectly. Eco-Counter is the global reference for professional, permanent counting and has a sales and distribution network in more than 55 countries. Eco-Counter equipment is installed long-term at a wide range of locations, with government bodies as its main customers. Telraam adds a new offering to this: affordable, fine-grained, simple sensors that can also be easily installed by residents or local businesses themselves. Together, they offer cities and municipalities a complete portfolio of solutions to build a high-performance, multimodal picture of traffic in every situation and at every location. For Telraam, this acquisition means direct access to overseas markets that it would reach far more slowly as a standalone scale-up.
"To gain faster entry into the international market, including outside Europe, we set out to find a complementary partner. Eco-Counter has a worldwide presence and the experience and corporate structure to accelerate that scale-up. The active founders remain on board to help build Telraam further. For our team, our partners and above all our users, this is an important next step in expanding the model of accessible, participatory traffic counting." Kris Vanherle, co-founder and CEO, Telraam.
“Telraam brings a proven methodology for citizen-powered mobility measurement. Integrating this capability within Quanteo, alongside Eco-Counter, strengthens our ability to support public authorities of every scale with the data required to build safer, more active mobility networks. This acquisition is a deliberate and disciplined step in our M&A growth strategy.” Christophe Milon, CEO, Quanteo
“For over 25 years, our team has helped cities and site managers turn pedestrian and cyclist flows into evidence for planning decisions. Telraam adds something we could not build alone: citizens measuring traffic on their own street, and using that data to make it safer for everyone. Their data and ours answer the same question, which makes this a natural fit. For our customers and partners, nothing changes: this addition strengthens what we offer, it does not change how we support the organizations who already work with us." Enrico Durbano, CEO, Eco-Counter
What changes for existing customers and users?
Nothing changes about the service. Sensors keep working, the data platform and reporting continue unchanged, and ongoing subscriptions and contracts remain valid. The familiar points of contact and the Telraam team are retained. In the longer term, the acquisition will only bring more and broader service: faster integration of new features and smoother availability in more countries. Telraam continues to operate from Leuven.
